This week we are participating at Vacation Bible School. BFF Canon is attending with us. They seem to be having a blast. They are jamming out to the music and learning a lot. You should see their dance moves. I'll have to get some video of that! I didn't turn in my volunteer stuff until late. I thought I'd be a kitchen worker or helping in Arts and Crafts, but alas, I am a crew leader. I won't sugarcoat it for internet purposes, it is HARD! There are a few challenging people on my team, and it has been a struggle at times. It was probably Wednesday morning, after a bottle of wine and a LOT of prayer, before I found my stride. I've always been a big fan of my kids, but this experience has truly made me appreciate my wonderful kiddos!!! Our church is located in the heart of downtown Birmingham so children from all walks of life are attending. (This is one of the things I love about where we go to church.) But on the other hand, as a "grown-up" you really don't know what goes on at home for some of the kids. It's been very humbling and at times, heart-breaking. It's been a different kind of VBS experience than I was probably accustomed to in my charmed childhood....Which was probably good for me. I think we all need to realize how fortunate we are and how a little love goes a long way, especially with kids who don't get that love on a daily basis.
Sorry! Didn't really intend for that to be so deep! :)
